Porcelain Veneers in Houston

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells of dental porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth. They can change the shape, color, alignment and spacing of a smile. At Snow Tree Dental in Houston's Galleria area, Dr. Muna Mohammed plans veneers around your own face and bite, so the result still looks like you.

What porcelain veneers actually do

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain, made in a dental lab to fit one specific tooth. To make room for it, a small amount of enamel is usually shaped away first. That step cannot be undone, so a tooth that has been prepared for a veneer will always need a covering of some kind.

Veneers are not the answer to everything. If your teeth are healthy and only look dull, whitening is simpler and keeps your enamel. If teeth are badly out of line, aligners or braces usually give a better long-term result. Dr. Mohammed will tell you plainly if a smaller treatment would get you where you want to be.

Snow Tree Dental has been treating patients on Augusta Drive since April 2019, and holds a 4.9-star rating from 221 Google reviews. Dr. Muna Mohammed leads the practice, and our team speaks English, Spanish and Arabic, so you can ask questions about your smile in the language you think in.

Signs porcelain veneers may suit you

  • Stains that won't whitenSome discoloration sits inside the tooth and does not respond to whitening. Veneers cover it instead of trying to bleach it out.
  • Chipped or worn edgesFront teeth that have chipped, or worn flat from grinding, can be rebuilt to an even edge once the cause of the wear is addressed.
  • Gaps and small overlapsMinor spacing or slightly rotated teeth can often be masked with veneers. Larger movement is usually better handled with aligners or braces first.
  • Mismatched shapes or sizesTeeth that are too short, too narrow, or shaped differently from the ones beside them can be brought into proportion across the smile.
Step by step

What to expect

  1. Consultation and smile design

You come in for a consultation. Dr. Mohammed checks your teeth, gums and bite, takes photos and X-rays, and asks what you want changed. Nothing is drilled at this visit.

  2. Preparation and temporaries

Once you approve the plan, a thin layer of enamel is shaped away and a digital scan or impression goes to the lab. You leave wearing temporary veneers.

  3. Fitting and bonding

Your veneers are tried in first so you can see the shape and shade in a mirror. When you are happy, they are bonded to the teeth and your bite is adjusted.

  4. Follow-up and care

You come back so we can check the bite and gums as they settle. Keep up cleanings, and if you grind your teeth, a night guard helps protect the porcelain.

What porcelain veneers cost in Houston

There is no single price for veneers, because no two smiles need the same work. Cost depends on how many teeth you are treating, the porcelain and lab used, whether any tooth needs repair or gum work first, and whether a night guard is recommended. Veneers done purely for appearance are usually not covered by insurance, though we file claims for you when part of the treatment is restorative. Patients without insurance can join our in-house membership plan from $225 a year, and we offer financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit. Your consultation is free and ends with an exact written quote.

Common questions

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

How much do porcelain veneers cost in Houston?

The cost of porcelain veneers in Houston depends on how many teeth you treat, the type of porcelain, the lab work involved, and whether any repair is needed first. Snow Tree Dental gives you an exact quote at a consultation. We accept most major PPO plans, offer an in-house membership plan from $225 a year, and finance through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit.

Do porcelain veneers damage your natural teeth?

Getting porcelain veneers usually means removing a thin layer of enamel so the veneer sits flush. Enamel does not grow back, so the teeth will always need to be covered afterwards. With good hygiene and regular checkups, the teeth underneath are usually well protected. Your dentist will examine your enamel first and tell you if a more conservative option fits better.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are durable but not permanent. Most people keep them for many years, and how long they last depends on your bite, whether you grind your teeth, your gum health and your daily cleaning. Veneers can chip, stain at the edges or come loose, and they can be repaired or replaced. Regular check-ups catch small problems early.

Does dental insurance cover porcelain veneers?

Dental insurance usually treats veneers as cosmetic and does not cover them. If a veneer or crown is needed to restore a broken or worn tooth, part of the treatment may qualify, and Snow Tree Dental files the claim for you. If you have no insurance, our membership plan starts at $225 a year and Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit financing is available.
