Dental Crowns and Bridges in Houston

A dental crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged or weakened tooth and restores its shape and strength. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the teeth on either side. At Snow Tree Dental in Houston's Galleria area, Dr. Muna Mohammed shapes the tooth, takes an impression, and fits your restoration over more than one visit.

What crowns and bridges actually do

A crown is used when a filling isn't enough. If a tooth is cracked, worn down, heavily filled, or has just had a root canal, a crown wraps the whole tooth so it can handle chewing again. It's made to match the shape and shade of the teeth around it, so most people can't tell which tooth it is.

A bridge fills a gap. Crowns go on the healthy teeth on either side of the space, and a replacement tooth is joined between them. It's fixed in place, so you don't take it out at night. Dr. Mohammed will also explain the alternatives, including implants, since a bridge isn't always the better long-term choice.

Materials matter. Porcelain and zirconia look natural and suit front teeth; gold and metal-backed options are strong and often used further back. Dr. Muna Mohammed will explain which makes sense for your bite and your budget. Our Galleria office has served Houston since 2019, and our team speaks English, Spanish and Arabic.

Signs you may need a crown or bridge

  • A cracked or broken toothYou bit down on something hard and part of the tooth chipped away, or it hurts when you release a bite.
  • After a root canalBack teeth usually need a crown once the nerve is removed, because the remaining tooth structure is brittle and can split under normal chewing.
  • A large old fillingWhen a filling takes up most of the tooth, the walls around it can flex and are more likely to fracture over time. A crown holds everything together instead.
  • A missing toothA gap lets the neighboring teeth drift and the opposite tooth over-erupt. A bridge or implant keeps your bite lined up and makes chewing easier.
Step by step

What to expect

  1. Exam and consultation

Dr. Mohammed checks the tooth, takes an X-ray, and tells you whether a crown, a bridge, or something simpler is the right fix. You leave with a written quote.

  2. Preparing the tooth

The area is numbed. The tooth is shaped so the crown fits over it, then we take a scan or impression and send it to the lab. A temporary crown protects the tooth meanwhile.

  3. Fitting the final crown

At your next visit we remove the temporary, check the fit, shade and bite, then cement the crown in place. Tell us if anything feels high, and we adjust it there and then.

  4. Aftercare

Brush and floss around a crown like a normal tooth; with a bridge we'll show you how to clean underneath. Keep up with cleanings, and call us if anything feels loose or sensitive.

What crowns and bridges cost in Houston

The cost of a crown or bridge depends on how many teeth are involved, which material we use, whether the tooth needs a root canal or a build-up first, and how much your insurance covers. We accept most major PPO plans and file the claims for you. If you don't have insurance, our in-house membership plan starts at $225 a year and is designed for exactly that situation. Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit let you spread payments out. Your consultation is free, and you'll get an exact written quote before anything starts.

Common questions

Crowns and Bridges FAQs

How much does a dental crown cost in Houston?

Snow Tree Dental accepts most major PPO plans and files the claim for you. so you'll have an exact quote before you agree to anything. Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit financing is available if you'd rather spread the cost.

What's the difference between a dental crown and a bridge?

A crown covers one tooth that's still in your mouth but damaged. It caps what's left and restores the chewing surface. A bridge replaces a tooth that's already gone. It uses crowns on the teeth either side of the gap to hold a false tooth in the middle. Same materials, different job.

Does getting a dental crown hurt?

The tooth is numbed first, so most people feel pressure and vibration rather than pain during the appointment. Some tenderness or cold sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal, especially if the tooth was already inflamed. Tell your dentist if you're anxious or if numbing has been difficult for you before, because it changes how we approach the visit.

Does dental insurance cover crowns and bridges?

Most PPO plans cover part of the cost of a crown or bridge when it's needed to restore a damaged or missing tooth, though coverage levels, waiting periods and annual maximums vary by plan. Snow Tree Dental accepts most major PPO insurance and files claims for you. Bring your card and we'll check your benefits before treatment starts.
