Dental Implants in Houston, TX
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root with a small titanium post placed in your jawbone. Once it heals, Dr. Muna Mohammed attaches a custom crown on top. Implants suit most adults with healthy gums and enough bone, and can replace one tooth, several, or anchor a denture. Snow Tree Dental offers free implant consultations in Houston's Galleria area.
What a dental implant actually is
An implant has three parts. The post is a small screw-shaped piece of titanium that takes the place of your natural tooth root. The abutment is a connector that sits on top of it. The crown is the visible tooth, shaped and shaded to match the teeth beside it. Together they look and function much like a natural tooth.
Replacing the root is the part that matters most. When a tooth is gone, the jawbone underneath it tends to shrink over time, and nearby teeth can drift into the gap. An implant sits in the bone and keeps working it, which helps hold the shape of your jaw and your face. Bridges and dentures rest on top of the gum instead.
Dr. Muna Mohammed has led Snow Tree Dental on Augusta Drive since 2019, a few minutes from the Galleria and Uptown. Patients have rated the practice 4.9 stars across 221 Google reviews. Our team speaks English, Spanish and Arabic, so you can ask questions about your treatment in the language you think in.
Signs a dental implant may be right for you
- You are missing a toothWhether it came out last week or years ago, the gap can usually be restored. Dr. Mohammed will check whether the bone underneath is ready.
- A tooth cannot be savedSome teeth are cracked below the gum line or too decayed to repair. In those cases an implant is often planned before the tooth even comes out.
- Your denture slipsIf a lower denture moves when you eat or talk, implants can be used to anchor it so it stays where it should.
- You want to avoid a bridgeA traditional bridge is supported by trimming down the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. An implant stands on its own instead.
What to expect, step by step
Consultation and imaging
You meet Dr. Mohammed, she examines the area and takes the images needed to check your bone and the nerves nearby. You leave knowing the plan and the exact cost before anything is scheduled.
Placing the implant
The area is numbed, the post is placed into the jaw, and the gum is closed over or around it. Most people find it easier than they expected, and many are back to normal activity the next day.
Healing
The bone grows around the post and locks it in place. This takes months and varies from person to person. If you need a temporary tooth in the meantime, we will fit one.
Your new tooth
Once the implant is stable, we take impressions and your crown is made to match your other teeth. You come back to have it fitted, checked against your bite, and adjusted until it feels right.
What dental implants cost in Houston
There is no single price for a dental implant, and any practice quoting one before seeing your mouth is guessing. Your cost depends on how many teeth you are replacing, the crown material, whether you need an extraction or a bone graft first, and what your insurance covers. Snow Tree Dental accepts most major PPO plans and files the claims for you. If you have no insurance, our in-house membership plan starts at $225 a year — ask how it applies to your treatment. Financing is available through Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit. Your consultation is free, and you leave it with an exact quote.
Dental Implants FAQs
How much do dental implants cost in Houston?
Snow Tree Dental does not publish a set implant price, because the cost changes with the number of teeth being replaced, the crown material, and whether you need an extraction or a bone graft first. Insurance may cover part of it. Come in for a consultation at our Galleria office and you will get an exact quote in writing.
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
The implant is placed under local anesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure itself. Most people report soreness for a few days afterwards, similar to having a tooth taken out, and manage it with over-the-counter pain relief. Dr. Mohammed will go over what to expect and what to do if anything feels wrong.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants are designed as a long-term replacement and often last many years, but nothing in dentistry is guaranteed. How long yours lasts depends on your gum health, your bite, whether you smoke, and how well you clean around it. The crown on top may need replacing before the post underneath does. Regular check-ups matter.
How long does the dental implant process take?
A dental implant is not a single appointment. After the post is placed, the bone needs months to grow around it before the final crown can go on, and that healing time differs for everyone. If a tooth has to come out or the bone needs building up first, that adds time. Dr. Mohammed maps out your timeline at the consultation.
